Non-violent Conflict Resolution through Forgiveness

Speakers

Kim Comer - School Teacher

Kim grew up in Alabama USA in a single parent household at a time when that was a rare. He never knew his Dad, and was always told by his mother that his father was doing important work, and just didn’t have time to be with them. When young, Kim envisioned his father as a hero in superhero proportions, in an effort to cope with the missing father. Then, as a teen with minimal guidance, he started flirting with drugs, alcohol and other destructive choices.

Reality hit in a tragic way at the age of 17. He discovered the true identity of his father, and was plunged into a labyrinth of anger bitterness and blame. Eventually he was able to come to terms with the truth, and to face the difficult fact that he too was human, made mistakes, and needed forgiveness just as his father had.

Now, a secondary school teacher and father of 7, Kim has spent many years working with teens and their families. His commitment to inform young people about conflict resolution through forgiveness stems from his difficult personal experience of going through the process of choosing forgiveness.
